Year-End Recognitions & Thank You's

Glacier Valley Families-

It is hard to believe that the end of the school year has arrived!  9 months have passed very quickly!

The year’s end always brings with it a tremendous sense of achievement.  So many things have been accomplished this year! Our students have been involved in an extraordinary number of activities such as Science Night, Harvest Carnival, Family Movie Nights, Art Night and our first Multicultural Celebration.  Of course, we should not forget the learning which has taken place during the year.  Throughout all of these activities our students have demonstrated great character!

I would like to recognize our staff for their countless hours before, during, and after school. What an amazing and extremely committed group to work with! I am impressed every day by their dedication and grit.

Thank you to our wonderful Parent Group members who have contributed to our school in so many wonderful ways. Without our Parent Group, there wouldn’t have been the Treasure Store, Spirit Gear, the End-of-the-Year picnic and many of the family nights that were provided throughout the school year. Without our Parent Group, Glacier Valley would not be the place that it is.

To our 5th graders – congratulations on your promotion.  The Glacier Valley staff wish you all the best as you move to middle school.  If this is your last child to leave Glacier Valley, the staff would like to thank you for your support and for the guidance that you have provided for your child(ren).  We look forward to hearing from the graduates in the future and we hope that each of them will have gained a firm foundation for their education while at Glacier Valley.

On behalf of the staff, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a safe and happy summer and we look forward to seeing everyone upon our return for the 2016-17 school year.

Thank You for Your Service at Glacier Valley

A Word from Mrs. Potter...

Glacier Valley Families-

I wanted to take a minute to recognize some of our Glacier Valley staff members who will be leaving us at the end of the school year. All four have been an intricate part of our Glacier Valley team. If you see them in our hallways, please take a moment to say “thank you” for their dedication in educating our children.

JoAnn Steininger: Kindergarten Teacher

After 18 years of teaching at Glacier Valley, Mrs. Steininger will retire at the end of the year. She has not only been a kindergarten teacher but a treasured colleague.  JoAnn’s dedication to our students, depth of knowledge, passion for teaching, and tireless advocacy for kinders and their families will certainly be missed. We wish JoAnn well in her newest adventures and all of us would like to say “thank you” for her years of dedicated service. Starting next school year without JoAnn will leave a deep hole that will be hard to fill.

Janalynn Doten-Ferguson: 2nd Grade Teacher

Mrs. Ferguson has been with Glacier Valley for 14 years. During her time here, she has taught 4th grade as well as 2nd.  Her compassion for children and ability to foster deep relationships has been an amazing asset for all of Glacier Valley. Janalynn is always willing to share her excitement for learning with students and colleagues. Thank you Mrs. Ferguson for your commitment to Glacier Valley and enjoy the treasured time with your family.

Cindle Stolarik: K/1 Special Education Teacher

Ms. Stolarik has been at Glacier Valley for 6 years.  During her tenure here, she taught in the DEC program as well as in the K/1 Resource classroom. Cindle’s expert ability to build academic confidence and self-esteem in young students is remarkable.  During her small group instruction, she found ways to make learning fun and engaging. Her tireless dedication to her students will be hard to replace. Glacier Valley wishes her the best of luck in her move back to Michigan!

Elizabeth Barry: 4th/5th Multiage classroom

Although Ms. Barry has only been with us for two years, she has become an integral part of the Glacier Valley staff. Her easy going attitude and ability to jump right in has made her a true team member. Liz is appreciated for her willingness to problem solve and foster relationships with her students. She has been an important piece of helping us meet our intermediate student’s social and emotional needs. Thank you Ms. Barry and best of luck in your move!

12:45pm - 1:45pm

Multicultural Day At Glacier Valley:

We will be having a Multicultural Day on April 29th to celebrate our students and the many different cultures that make Glacier Valley the wonderful place that it is. Students are welcome to wear clothing that represents their heritage. As a culminating activity, all students will gather for short presentations in the gym. Each grade level will host an activity that represents a country from around the world.
Thank you for helping your child share your family's culture with the school.
~Mrs. Potter
This event occurs on a single day.
