Two celebrations regarding food service for our students! First, thank you for voting for Mr. Chester's class regarding their salad bar video. They won the $500 prize for our school! Mr. Chester's class will receive a small portion of the money in the form of fruit and vegetables for snack time. The rest will be divided between the breakfast program (fruit) and the end of year barbecue (tomatoes and lettuce).

Second, Glacier Valley successfully applied (with substantial assistance from district food services supervisor Adrianne Schwartz) for a fruits and vegetable grant through the State of Alaska Department of Education & Early Development. We have been awarded $19,750 to use in providing all K-5 students fruits and vegetables to add to their snacks nearly every day next school year. We feel healthier already!
